IMAX arrives in Kosovo
Movie enthusiasts will be able to enjoy a new cinematic experience with the arrival of IMAX at Cineplexx in Albi Mall, Pristina, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
IMAX is an advanced film projection and screen technology that provides a more immersive and enriched movie-watching experience compared to traditional cinema screens.
IMAX is characterized by large screens, enhanced clarity and colors, 3D surround sound, and other features that make it unique compared to what we are used to seeing.
This innovation, the first in the region, cost over €5 million and aims to offer an unforgettable experience for movie enthusiasts.
To mark the introduction of this advanced film projection technology, Cineplexx and Albi Mall held a press conference highlighting its significance.
Betim Humolli, a representative of “Albi Group,” stated that IMAX, as a high-level cinematic experience, has come exclusively to Cineplexx.
He emphasized that this is the first of its kind in the region and that the IMAX investment exceeds €5 million.
"It is worth noting that IMAX will be exclusively at Cineplexx in Albi Mall. This is a different technology, another level of cinematography. We have had a long collaboration with Cineplexx since 2016 when we first brought the country's first multiplex cinema to Albi Mall and Kosovo. Now, we are thrilled to bring new innovations. We are introducing the first IMAX theater, the first in the region. There is none in Tirana or Skopje. This is the first in this region. It is a major investment, exceeding €5 million. Additionally, there is another Lux or VIP hall on the other side. Both will open to the public tomorrow,” said Humolli.
Meanwhile, Lucas Langhammer, Head of Business Development at Cineplexx headquarters, stated that IMAX offers the best cinematic experience.
He expressed pride in bringing IMAX to Pristina, emphasizing that Cineplexx sees itself as an ambitious innovator.
"Certainly, this is the best cinematic experience you can have today. As Cineplexx, we see ourselves as ambitious innovators, film enthusiasts, and we are especially proud that, for the first time, with the strong support of the Humolli family here in Albi, we are bringing IMAX to Pristina. And we are delighted that you are here. For me, as someone who has grown up in this industry, who has lived and breathed cinema, I can sincerely say that this screen, this sound, this fully immersive experience—there is nothing better. It is bigger, bolder, better; it is the best you can have now," Langhammer said.
Julien Tranchant, a representative of IMAX, stated that IMAX is created by film enthusiasts for film enthusiasts. According to him, what sets IMAX apart is the film production process.
"IMAX is made by film enthusiasts for film enthusiasts. IMAX is truly about full immersion, achieved through the combination of technologies in this room: the screen, the projection, and the OjO system. All these elements come together to provide an amazing experience. What distinguishes IMAX is also the film production aspect. For instance, 'Captain America' was filmed with IMAX cameras. We are thrilled to bring this experience to our fans everywhere. Usually, we have fans who travel for hours or even fly just to experience IMAX, so we want to bring it closer to people. That is why we are excited and proud to open one for the first time here in Kosovo," Tranchant emphasized.
IMAX screens are significantly larger than standard ones and can cover almost the entire field of view, creating an "immersive" effect.
