Bulgarian Patriarch Blesses Antarctic Mission with Sacred Icon

Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil presented Professor Christo Pimpirev, leader of the Bulgarian Antarctic mission, with a consecrated icon of the Theotokos for the St. Ivan Rilski Orthodox Church on Livingston Island. The presentation took place during a liturgy at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, as announced by the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, CE Report quotes BTA

Patriarch Daniil expressed his admiration for Bulgaria’s sustained presence in Antarctica and wished success to the 33rd Bulgarian Antarctic expedition. “May God strengthen you and bless your work in the harsh conditions of ice and wind. Let faith, courage, and brotherly love guide you in your important endeavors,” he said.
