Isabella Rossellini gets Oscar nod

Culture

Isabella Rossellini has been nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actress for her role as Sister Agnes in Conclave by Edward Berger, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced in Beverley Hills, CE Report quotes ANSA.

It is the first Oscar nomination for the 72-year-old daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini.

Conclave, from the Robert Harris bestseller, is a tale of intrigue, backstabbing a barely credible twist in the election of a pope in the Sistine Chapel.

Rossellini, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her nun's role, will be up against Monica Barbaro (Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist) and Zoe Saldana (Emilia Perez) in the Oscar on Sunday, March 23.
