The Republic of Moldova has announced its withdrawal from the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The decision was revealed by Corneliu Durnescu, Director of Moldova 1, and Daniela Crudu, Head of the Eurovision Moldova Delegation, citing economic, administrative, and artistic challenges as key factors, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Durnescu highlighted issues during this year’s national selection, including waning public interest and declining song and performance quality. “This has led to a negative perception among experts and the public, emphasizing the need for significant reform in our selection process,” he stated.

Crudu described the decision as difficult but necessary, with the aim of revitalizing Moldova’s future participation. “We hope this step will reignite interest and allow us to return stronger to Eurovision, providing better opportunities for aspiring artists,” she said.

Moldova has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2005. The organizers have assured fans of their commitment to returning with a more competitive and inspired approach in the future.
