The January issue of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) culture magazine, LIK, marks its 60th anniversary, reflecting on a rich history since its first publication on January 8, 1965, CE Report quotes BTA

A presentation of the commemorative issue will take place on January 23 at BTA's MaxiM Hall, with videoconference connections to press clubs nationwide.

LIK’s journey includes two significant hiatuses: a pause in 1992 followed by a relaunch in 1999, and another in 2013. The magazine resumed monthly publication in March 2022, embracing its legacy while adapting to modern times.

In the issue’s foreword, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev emphasizes the magazine’s enduring relevance, citing five strategic reasons for its necessity today: truth, accessibility, knowledge, fostering community, and preserving memory.

Editor-in-chief Georgi Lozanov addresses the magazine’s self-reflection in his article "Media Review of Survivors," arguing that LIK's editorial focus on reviving collective cultural memory justifies its introspection.

Managing editor Yanitsa Hristova highlights LIK's current mission: exploring timeless values and chronicling key figures, events, and phenomena through the lens of BTA's archives. Each themed issue pays tribute to Bulgaria’s cultural and social history, solidifying LIK's role as a vital chronicler of the nation's heritage.

This special edition underscores LIK's evolution and enduring role in Bulgaria's cultural narrative.
