Iliycho Yordanov, head of the local Tradition club, explained that the reenactment depicted the welcoming of Prince Battenberg in Radomir, following the town’s liberation on January 14, 1878. Authentic costumes and replicas brought history to life, recounting how a troop led by Ilyo Voivode and Archimandrite Zenobius expelled the Ottoman Turks and welcomed Russian forces.
Yordanov noted the liberation of Radomir and Kyustendil was uncertain at the time due to the limited presence of Russian troops in the region. Local forces, including Captain Simo Sokolov's troop, played a key role in defeating Ottoman forces and aiding Russian efforts.
Over 40 participants from Radomir and neighboring towns brought the event to life using historical accounts from the Municipal History Museum and biographies of key historical figures. Yordanov himself portrayed Ilyo Voivode in the reenactment.
