Italian opera is celebrated in Brazil
The first edition of the 'Largo delle Opere' project transformed Curitiba, in the state of Paranà, into a true stage for the celebration of classical music, bringing opera to the amphitheatre of the San Francisco Ruins in Curitiba, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Integrated in the official programme of the 'Christmas of Curitiba - Luz dos Pinhais 2024', with the institutional support of the Consulate General of Italy in Curitiba, the event attracted more than 2,000 people, as well as being followed live on Instagram.
Nine performances of three of the most famous Italian operas were staged: La Bohème, by Giacomo Puccini; La Traviata, by Giuseppe Verdi; and L'Elisir d'Amore, by Gaetano Donizetti.
The theme of the initiative was the celebration of 150 years of Italian immigration to Brazil and the centenary of Giacomo Puccini's death, paying homage to the rich Italian opera tradition and its influence on Paraná culture.
The production of this first edition involved more than fifty professionals, including, for music and conducting, Maestro Roberto Ramos and director and opera singer, Denise Sartori, as well as opera singers, choristers, musicians, set designers, costume designers, stage technicians and producers.
