'There's Still Tomorrow' makes Oscar shortlist

Paola Cortellesi's feminist black-and-white dramedy 'There's Still Tomorrow' was among 207 feature films eligible for the 97th Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced, CE Report quotes ANSA.

In order to make the Best Picture cut, a film must have been screened in movie theatres in the United States for at least seven days in 2024.

Nominations voting begins on Wednesday and ends on Sunday this week.

The nominations for the 97th Academy Awards will then be announced on Friday, January 17.

The 97th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

C'è Ancora Domani (There's Still Tomorrow), the directorial debut of Italian comic and actress Paola Cortellesi, became a box office sensation in Italy when it was released in 2023.

The movie, which follows the plight of an abused housewife in post-war Rome, scored a box office of 36.8 million euros in Italy, attracting a record 5.4 million viewers.

After hitting movie theaters in October 2023, it became the most-viewed film of the year, ahead of hits Barbie and Oppenheimer, scoring the 10th position among Italy's box office hits of all time and a fifth position among the most successful Italian movies in history.

In 2024, it was the fourth record-breaking film at Italy's box office.

The dramedy was also the most watched Italian movie in France of the past decade.
