Karen Souza to Join Vasil Petrov's 30th Anniversary Concert in Sofia

Renowned Argentinian jazz and bossa nova artist Karen Souza will perform in Sofia as part of the celebration of Bulgarian singer Vasil Petrov's 30-year music career. On January 21, Souza will take the stage at Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) to perform her greatest hits before Petrov's concert, titled "The Best of Vasil Petrov." Souza, known for her iconic jazz interpretations and original work, has gained global recognition with over 250 million Spotify streams and six albums to her name. Her unique covers of hits like Creep (Radiohead) and Tainted Love (Soft Cell) have featured in Netflix productions including The Zero Theorem, White Lines, and Dynasty.

The concert will showcase highlights from Petrov’s extensive repertoire, including jazz standards, pop, rock, film scores, and symphonic adaptations. Special guests include Hilda Kazasyan, Maria Ilieva, Theodosii Spassov, and Zornitsa Ilarionova. They will be joined by the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra and a jazz trio, conducted by Hristo Pavlov.

Petrov and Souza collaborated on a duet in the summer of 2024, adding a personal touch to the evening’s celebration.
