The event concludes a two-year project that included workshops and a conference on metal plastic art, with a catalogue of the featured works unveiled during the opening ceremony.
Established in 1991, the Metal Art Department is the only one of its kind in Bulgaria. Over the years, it has awarded over 250 bachelor's, 120 master's, and 9 doctoral degrees, while nurturing artists, educators, and researchers.
"Today we present one of the youngest and most innovative specialties at the NAA, showcasing bold, imaginative, and fantastic solutions," said NAA Rector Prof. Georgi Yankov. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Zdravka Vassileva highlighted the diversity of the student creations, ranging from jewelry to large-scale metal sculptures.
The department head, Assoc. Prof. Emil Bachiiski, emphasized the legacy of its faculty, noting the contributions of Prof. Ivan Slavov, Prof. Dimitar Delchev, and others. "Our strength lies in continuity, passing the torch from one generation to the next," he said.
Visitors can explore a stunning collection of metal art that reflects both tradition and forward-thinking creativity, marking a milestone in Bulgarian art education.
