Art Auction in Sofia Sets Bulgarian Record with EUR 400,000 in Sales

An art auction hosted by Artmark in Sofia on December 17 achieved nearly EUR 400,000 in total sales, with 126 artworks finding new owners. The highlight of the event was Jules Pascin's Hermine David and Her Friends (1917), which set a new record for the Bulgarian art market by selling for EUR 60,000. Initially estimated at EUR 15,000–25,000, the oil-on-canvas piece far exceeded expectations, CE Report quotes BTA

Other notable sales included Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazova's Still Life with Primroses (EUR 10,000), Zlatyu Boyadzhiev's The Old Mill (EUR 16,000), Dechko Uzunov's The Sunflower Garden (EUR 11,000), and Nikola Tanev's Still Life with Apples and Blue Teapot (EUR 18,000).

The six-and-a-half-hour auction drew 170 bidders and followed a public exhibition of the artworks at Sofia's Artmark from December 4 to 16.
