Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis Signs Key Cultural Heritage Contracts in Crete

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, alongside Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, attended the signing of two major contracts in Crete on Thursday: one for the restoration of the Church of St. Minas in Heraklion and another for the Archaeological Museum of Archanes, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Mitsotakis expressed optimism about the progress, stating, "Through the excellent cooperation between the Region and the Ministry of Culture, we will deliver a transformed St. Minas by 2027."

Regarding the museum project in Archanes, Mitsotakis highlighted the involvement of the Technical University of Crete in preparing studies and upgrades to the existing building. This will allow the museum to showcase significant archaeological finds from the region, known for its rich historical importance.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving Crete’s cultural heritage and expressed hope for the inclusion of the Minoan Palace of Knossos on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
