Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers Hekuran Murati today signed a €5 million grant agreement together with the Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Sergiy Maslichenko, and the representative of the Regional Water Company “Mitrovica,” Bashkim Kurti, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

According to the Ministry of Finance, this grant is part of a project aimed at developing wastewater infrastructure in the Mitrovica region. It includes the construction of a modern wastewater treatment plant, as well as the rehabilitation and expansion of the existing network in the municipalities of Mitrovica and Vushtrri, including surrounding areas.

“The project will significantly improve the living conditions for around 123,000 residents of this area, greatly reducing environmental pollution and contributing to the protection of local water sources from untreated wastewater discharges. So far, the total financing value for this project has reached approximately €38 million, with the €5 million grant secured as a result of Kosovo’s successful application to the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF). This agreement stands as a testament to the commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and the provision of quality services to citizens,” the statement said.
