Scholz Criticizes Trump Administration's Climate Change Denial
Germany's acting Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized the Trump administration on Wednesday for denying and ignoring the reality of climate change, calling it one of the most pressing threats to humanity. Speaking at an international climate conference in Berlin, Scholz reaffirmed the importance of the 2016 Paris Agreement, expressing regret over the U.S.'s decision to withdraw from it, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
He emphasized that ignoring climate facts doesn't erase its consequences or the U.S.'s historical responsibility as the largest emitter of greenhouse gases. Scholz highlighted climate change as a grave security challenge, with significant economic, social, and political ramifications if global warming continues unchecked.
"Climate protection is not a luxury," he said, pointing out that the risks of natural disasters, food shortages, and conflicts over resources are increasing globally. He stressed that a peaceful world can only be secured by addressing climate change.
