Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos emphasized the Greek government's methodical approach to economic policy during an interview with ANT1 on Thursday. He noted that fiscal stability and significant growth have been achieved, allowing the state to support citizens facing financial struggles, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Referring to a series of newly announced benefits, Theodorikakos said the government is focused on aiding renters, low-income pensioners, and boosting public investment. He explained that these targeted measures were made possible by a budget surplus in 2024, achieved despite reducing over 70 taxes through economic growth and combating tax evasion.

The minister stressed ongoing support for the middle class, including job creation and tax cuts. He also mentioned that funds allocated to incomplete investment projects would be reclaimed, with no exceptions to the law.

Addressing cost-of-living concerns ahead of Easter, he cited lower fuel prices and a drop in meat costs. He reassured tenants that current laws protect them from eviction and highlighted plans to encourage accurate rent declarations, benefiting both renters and public revenue.

Theodorikakos concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to balanced growth through the upcoming development law, aimed at supporting border regions and small businesses.
