Greece will immediately roll out electricity subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises, retroactively covering December 2024 to February 2025, Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou announced Tuesday. Businesses found guilty of electricity theft will be excluded, with their share redistributed, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Papastavrou also introduced Greece’s first National Spatial Strategy for the Marine Area, aligning with EU Directive 2014/89. The plan defines uses for maritime zones—covering fishing, tourism, cultural preservation, and development—and incorporates Greece’s full continental shelf into EU regulatory texts for the first time, marking a significant geopolitical step.

Additionally, an international tender for hydrocarbon exploration in South Crete 1 and 2 will be announced by the end of April, following interest from Chevron Balkans Exploration B.V.

Commenting on Greece’s recent S&P credit upgrade, the minister highlighted growing investor confidence, which he said will lead to jobs, higher wages, and stronger competitiveness. The government, he concluded, aims to balance growth with fiscal stability and fairness.
