German Investors Briefed on North Macedonia’s Pro-Business Reforms at Skopje Assembly

Macroeconomic stability, predictable business environment, tax policy based on flat rate and a partnership between the government and companies in the process of implementing their investment projects – this is the message conveyed by Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska – Kochoska to German investors at the General Assembly of the Macedonian-German Business Association, held in Skopje, CE Report quotes MIA.

The policies we’re applying, she said, are aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability.

“Our priorities are defined with the Budget and the Fiscal Strategy, which include, among other things, restoring trust in the institutions, by boosting security, with effective fight against corruption and crime, independence of the judiciary and securing rule of law; economic revival of the country by improving energy transition, encouraging a strong cycle of economic growth, stable public finances, improving the overall transport infrastructure, raising the standards for living; comprehensive improvement of quality, infrastructure and access to education, creating a knowledge-based society and successful tackling of modern challenges as well as establishing a professional and efficient public administration, developing digital economy, the ICT sector, artificial intelligence, innovation and a startup ecosystem,” Dimitrieska – Kochoska said noting that the efforts of the government have been recognized by the foreign investors with a record-breaking 1.255 billion euros invested last year.

She said she expected the trend to continue in the coming period, the Finance Ministry said in a press release.

The government’s top priority, the minister stressed, is recording rising economic growth rates.

“Germany plays a very important role in our economy being our top trade partner with over 200 million euros in foreign direct investments last year,” she said.

In the meeting with representatives of German companies, held yesterday, Minister Dimitrieska – Kochoska said the government has the same approach toward all companies building partnerships with both local and foreign companies, said the press release.
