Moldova Railway Receives Diesel for Operations

Business

Moldova's Railway State Enterprise (CFM) has received 250 tons of diesel from the State Reserve to support its operations. The delivery, ordered by the government, follows the successful use of a previous batch to transport 84,500 tons of goods, generate revenues of 16.4 million lei, and clear employee wage arrears for August 2024, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The new batch of diesel, stored in branches across Chisinau, Ocnita, Balti, Ungheni, and Basarabeasca, will help CFM continue its essential transport services. The funds generated will be directed toward securing a salary fund of approximately 30 million lei for employee salaries in September 2024.

CFM remains focused on improving financial stability through efficiency measures and financial mechanisms to cover salaries, operational costs, and mandatory payments. The government's decision to provide diesel for the next four months aims to ensure CFM's continued operation, particularly in freight transport, despite financial challenges.

The support was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, emphasizing the need for change and the government's commitment to assisting the new CFM director in stabilizing the enterprise.
