PPC CEO Calls for US-Greece Data Center Partnership

Public Power Corporation (PPC) President and CEO Giorgos Stassis encouraged US investors to partner with Greece in developing data centers, during an event hosted by the German Marshall Fund (GMF) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Athens on Monday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

The event, titled "Geopolitics, Connectivity and Energy Security: An Athens Conversation," explored the evolving geopolitical landscape and its impact on transatlantic energy and climate policies. Stassis emphasized that in light of Europe’s energy challenges, the US and Europe now have an opportunity to collaborate on data center development, positioning them at the forefront of technological advancements in an increasingly digital world.

He also reaffirmed PPC's plans to establish a large-scale data center on land previously used by coal-powered plants in Western Macedonia. Stassis noted that recent geopolitical and energy crises have highlighted Europe’s need for strategic autonomy and greater competitiveness, suggesting that business collaboration between the US and Europe could play a crucial role in enhancing mutual security and growth.

In conclusion, Stassis highlighted PPC's role in fostering regional cooperation aligned with broader transatlantic goals, aiming to address shared challenges and create opportunities for innovation and development.
