Greek Finance Minister Heads to Brussels for Eurogroup and ECOFIN Meetings

Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, is traveling to Brussels on Monday to attend the Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Key discussions will focus on financing increased defense needs, following the European Council's decision on March 6 to activate the escape clause and establish a special defense fund. This topic will be addressed at an informal dinner on March 10 and the ECOFIN breakfast on March 11.

The Eurogroup meeting will cover macroeconomic challenges in the eurozone and coordination of Member States' budgetary policies, considering new defense-related developments.

At Tuesday’s ECOFIN meeting, ministers will discuss the European Commission's Omnibus Package to improve the business environment, the Directive on administrative cooperation in taxation (DAC9), and the economic impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, particularly in enforcing sanctions through customs authorities.
