Moldova Ratifies €15.4M Grant for Power Grid Interconnection with Romania

Moldovan MPs have ratified a €15.4 million grant agreement between state enterprise Moldelectrica and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support phase II of the Moldova-Romania electricity interconnection project, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The funds will be used for the construction of a 400 kV overhead power line linking Bălți (Moldova) and Suceava (Romania), covering 58 km within Moldova. Moldelectrica is currently preparing for the tender process to design and execute the works.

The project also includes the modernization of 200 power stations and the replacement of ten 110 kV transformers.

The total project cost is €77 million, with EBRD providing a €30.8 million loan (40%) and the European Investment Bank contributing an equal amount.
