During the forum, Stankov outlined Bulgaria’s strategic energy projects aimed at strengthening national and regional energy security. He emphasized the country’s role in connectivity and the adoption of innovative technologies to ensure reliable and affordable energy. "Solidarity among regional countries is crucial, and we will continue deepening these ties," he stated.

A key focus was the development of nuclear energy to establish Bulgaria as a hub for clean, competitive, and sustainable electricity. Stankov also met with Congressman Troy Balderson, Chair of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT), to discuss future cooperation in the energy sector.

As part of his U.S. visit, Stankov attended a roundtable organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), where he invited American companies to invest in Bulgaria’s energy sector. He also introduced a new roadshow initiative to attract investment in data center development, highlighting the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant area as an ideal location for AI infrastructure.

Stankov reiterated Bulgaria’s commitment to decarbonization, aligning with EU climate goals. He presented plans for two new pumped-storage hydropower plants at Dospat and Batak, expected to add 1,600-2,000 MW of energy storage capacity and solidify Bulgaria’s leadership in the Balkan energy market. He also discussed investment opportunities for American companies in these projects, as well as future geothermal energy developments.
