Energocom has supplied more than 5.7 million cubic meters of natural gas to the national gas network in recent days, following requests from Tiraspoltransgaz. The gas, intended for the Transnistrian region, was purchased from exchanges in Romania and Bulgaria and transported via the Trans-Balkan corridor and the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Deliveries included 450,000 cubic meters on February 1, 2.7 million cubic meters on February 2, and 2.575 million cubic meters on February 3.

The European Union has allocated a 30 million euro grant to Moldova to help secure energy resources for both sides of the Dniester. This includes 20 million euros for natural gas for the left bank and 10 million euros for electricity for the right bank.

Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) approved measures to utilize the EU grant. Energocom will purchase gas from EU and Ukrainian trading platforms and supply it based on a delivery schedule with Tiraspoltransgaz, ensuring a daily cap of 3 million cubic meters. Additionally, the company will procure electricity for the right bank.

Beyond this, Moldova is set to receive an extra 34 million euros in budgetary support from the EU.

As of January 1, 2025, Gazprom has unilaterally suspended gas deliveries to Moldovagaz despite a valid contract until 2026. This decision has left consumers in the Transnistrian region without gas, heating, or hot water.
