Energocom Begins Gas Procurements for Transnistria

Business

Energocom has started procuring natural gas for the Transnistrian region under a directive from Moldova's Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) effective 1 February. The company will acquire up to 3 million cubic meters of gas daily from European exchanges, which will be delivered through Moldova’s national network to Tiraspoltransgaz, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Energocom emphasized its role in ensuring energy security for consumers on both sides of the Dniester, leveraging its experience in diversifying gas and electricity imports.

CSE also approved Energocom’s purchase of electricity for the right bank of the Dniester. Meanwhile, the European Union is providing €64 million in emergency energy support, including €20 million for gas purchases for the left bank and €10 million for electricity for the right bank. The remaining €34 million will be direct financial aid to Moldova, disbursed in two installments.

Deliveries will continue until 10 February.
