The eurozone economy is expected to stay weak in the near term after stagnating at the end of 2024, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde said Thursday. She highlighted fragile consumer confidence and limited household spending growth despite rising real incomes, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

The ECB announced a 25-basis-point rate cut, citing improved inflation dynamics and strong monetary policy transmission. Lagarde noted that inflation remains on track to reach the 2% target this year, though domestic inflation pressures persist due to delayed wage and price adjustments.

According to Eurostat, the eurozone economy unexpectedly remained stable in Q4 2024.
