Unemployment in December 2024 Drops 6% Year-on-Year, Public Employment Service Reports

Registered unemployment in December 2024 stood at 977,687, reflecting a 6% decline compared to December 2023 but a 1.6% increase from November 2024, according to a report released Monday by the Public Employment Service, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Of the total unemployed, 46.9% (458,437 people) were classified as long-term unemployed. Women accounted for 63.8% (624,215) of the jobless, while men made up 36.2% (353,472).

The 30-44 age group recorded the highest unemployment figures, with 308,257 individuals (31.5%) affected.

Regionally, Attica and Central Macedonia had the highest numbers of unemployed, at 290,852 and 180,809, respectively.

The number of individuals receiving unemployment benefits in December 2024 totaled 262,548.
