Energy Shortage Expected in Moldova on January 14
The Energocom company has forecasted an energy deficit of 484 MW for January 14, between 16:00 and 19:00, due to increased consumption and capacity limits on the Isaccea-Vulcanesti high-tension power line. This shortfall, representing approximately 3% of Moldova's electricity demand, will be offset by emergency energy deliveries from Romania. Despite the situation, the Moldovan government assures there will be no power outages, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Currently, over half of Moldova's electricity is imported from Romania, with nearly one-third produced in Chisinau.
The Transnistrian region remains in a critical state, with household consumers lacking gas for heating since January 1, compounded by scheduled power cuts.
The government is closely monitoring the situation, which stems from Gazprom's refusal to supply gas, and pledges to take all necessary measures to minimize the impact on the population.
