Energocom Ensures Full Electricity Supply for January 7 Despite Reduced Demand

Business

Energocom announced that the electricity demand for January 7, which is expected to be 17% lower due to old-style Christmas celebrations, will be fully met, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

With reduced consumption on the right bank of the Dniester, less imported electricity will be required. Energocom has secured capacity reserves at the Romania border to facilitate the purchase of contracted or exchange electricity as needed.

The day’s energy needs will be covered by heating plants in Chisinau and Balti, local renewable energy sources, and imports.

Since January 1, 2025, the right bank of the Dniester no longer receives electricity from the Kuchurgan power station, following Gazprom's suspension of natural gas deliveries to Moldova. Electricity is now sourced from domestic producers, such as the Chisinau and Balti heating plants, the Costesti hydroelectric station, renewable installations, and imports from Romania via bilateral contracts and the OPCOM energy exchange.
