Greece Records Second Lowest Food Inflation in EU for November
Greece reported the second lowest food inflation rate among the 27 EU member states in November, signaling a significant easing of supermarket cost pressures on households, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Eurostat data revealed that food and non-alcoholic drink prices in Greece increased by just 0.4% year-on-year, far below the EU average of 2.5%. This marks the lowest inflation rate for these categories in Greece since May 2021, prior to the economic impacts of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Greece's overall consumer price index stood at 3%, slightly above the EU average of 2.5%. However, on a monthly basis, the country achieved the second-best performance in the EU, with prices dropping by 1.2% from October to November, surpassed only by Malta’s 3.2% decrease.
