Interior Min Livanios unveils new local Government code aiming to strengthen regional and municipal authority

Interior Minister Thodoris Livanios presented the key points of the reform under the new Local Government Code at the 10th Regular Conference of the Union of Greek Regions in Alexandroupolis. He announced that the Special Committee drafting the code is expected to finalize the text within five months, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

"Our goal is simple: to strengthen primary and secondary self-government and close the gap with European countries where regional and local governments have greater powers and resources," Livanios stated.
