Peevski Backs Government, Slams Critics
Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski reaffirmed Thursday that while his party is not part of the government, it supports its efforts “to do good things for the people.” Speaking to reporters in Parliament, Peevski emphasized that MRF would continue to back the government as long as it works in the public interest and against oligarchic influence, CE Report quotes BTA
“We do not and will not participate in this government. I want them to work for the people and develop Bulgaria,” he stated.
Peevski also noted that new elections would benefit his party, potentially doubling its seats and making it the second largest in Parliament. Currently, MRF holds 29 seats, ranking fourth.
He dismissed the idea of collaborating with Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), and criticized recent no-confidence vote proposals as a waste of time, particularly one expected from Velichie leader Ivelin Mihaylov.
Regarding his 2021 designation under the Global Magnitsky Act for alleged corruption, Peevski said he submitted all necessary documents to challenge it, calling the sanctions a “scam” orchestrated by entities affiliated with George Soros.
