Zhelyazkov Responds to Corruption Allegations

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption in response to MP Lena Borislavova’s criticism in Parliament on Friday. Borislavova raised concerns about ongoing corruption scandals, including the continued leadership of Vladimir Malinov at Bulgartransgaz despite his indictment and involvement in a cigarette smuggling ring, CE Report quotes BTA

Zhelyazkov defended the government’s actions, stating there was no harm identified at the Chiren gas storage facility, and suggested that the ongoing investigation would clarify the situation. Regarding the smuggling case, he emphasized that any undisclosed information was either classified or part of an active investigation, and only the prosecution could determine its release.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the government remains committed to addressing corruption, but emphasized the need for specific questions to ensure clear answers.
