
Elhovo Celebrates 100th Anniversary as a Town
Elhovo, a town with a population of around 9,500, celebrated its 100th anniversary on Saturday, marking the date when it was designated a town on March 26, 1925, by King Boris III. The last Saturday of March has been the town's holiday since 1994, CE Report quotes BTA
President Rumen Radev attended the celebration, praising the efforts of Mayor Petar Gendov and the Municipal Council for their work in developing the town, enhancing infrastructure, and preserving its natural resources. Radev also highlighted Elhovo’s significance near the Turkish border, noting its role in ensuring the security of the EU's external borders.
During the event, Radev was presented with a sculpture titled "Flight" by local artist Dimitar Neychev, a symbol of the town. Metropolitan Arseniy of Sliven led a religious service, and the celebration featured a festive procession with a military brass band from the 2nd Tundzha Mechanized Brigade.
