
Agricultural Bill Under Discussion, Minister Highlights Public Interest
Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgi Tahov, emphasized the Ministry's focus on defending agricultural producers and public interests during a meeting with retail chain representatives and consumer organizations. The meeting, held on Friday, aimed to discuss the draft bill on the agricultural product and food supply chain, CE Report quotes BTA
Tahov confirmed that the bill is still in draft form and assured that the Ministry would consider all viewpoints during ongoing discussions. Feedback from participants is expected by the end of next week.
Additionally, the Minister revealed plans to develop a draft law for agricultural cooperatives, aimed at strengthening farmers' positions in negotiations. The initiative will align with Bulgaria's Strategic Plan for Agricultural and Rural Development for 2023-2027.
The meeting included representatives from the Modern Trade Association, retail chains, and the Active Consumers Association.
