During a visit to the 24-hour Interagency Coordination Centre for high-risk goods and cargo monitoring, Mitov highlighted expert estimates that place around one-third of Bulgaria’s economy in the shadow sector. He emphasized the Centre’s critical role in combating smuggling.

Mitov, along with Interior Ministry officials, reviewed the work of seven agencies coordinated by the Centre, including the National Police, Border Police, State Security Agency, and Customs Agency.

"I am confident that the effective fight against illegal activities, which significantly harm the state budget, will help stabilize public finances," Mitov stated.
