Vazrazhdane Party Protests Over Alleged Data Distortion Ahead of Eurozone Entry
Representatives of Bulgaria’s Vazrazhdane party protested Monday in front of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), accusing it of distorting data ahead of the country's planned entry into the eurozone, CE Report quotes BTA
Sofia municipal councillor Deyan Nikolov demanded greater transparency, claiming the party was denied access to inflation-related data on the grounds of confidentiality. He argued that key figures on retail food pricing were withheld.
NSI President Atanas Atanasov responded that the Statistics Act prohibits the release of such data and emphasized that NSI does not advise on eurozone accession.
Vazrazhdane vowed to continue seeking inflation data. Party leader Kostadin Kostadinov previously declared that preventing Bulgaria’s eurozone entry is their top priority, warning of mass protests if the process proceeds with "fake data."
