President Rumen Radev Highlights Key Priorities for Bulgaria's Government

Bulgaria

President Rumen Radev emphasized the importance of the new Bulgarian Government prioritizing the national interest and improving living conditions during remarks at the FIS Snowboard World Cup in Bansko on Sunday. He stated that the relationship between the presidency and the government would depend on its dedication to these goals, CE Report quotes BTA

"We will soon see if the new majority and opposition address society’s pressing problems or focus on their internal dynamics. If it’s the latter, public patience may quickly wear thin," Radev warned.

When asked about overcoming Bulgaria’s political and institutional crisis, Radev expressed hope but noted that much depends on the new Government’s work, its relationship with Parliament, and the overall parliamentary atmosphere.

Radev refrained from commenting on the appointment of Ivaylo Ivanov as the head of the Interior Minister’s political cabinet, stating he didn’t want to overshadow the positive emotions generated by the skiing event but acknowledged that political evaluations are inevitable.

The President also announced he had signed amendments to the Judiciary Act, paving the way for their promulgation. Responding to inquiries about a potential report concerning the Higher Air Force School in Dolna Mitropolia, he said he was unaware of such a document but would request it if it existed.

Radev commended the Bansko Municipality and the Bulgarian Ski Federation for their efforts in organizing the event, calling it an excellent promotion for Bulgaria. He highlighted the dual benefits of tourism as a contributor to the state budget and as a gateway for investments.

The event underscored Bulgaria’s potential to set global standards in skiing and showcased the country as an attractive destination for international visitors.
