Members of Bulgaria's National Assembly will hear from Plamen Tonchev, Chair of the State Agency for National Security, and Antoan Gechev, Chair of the State Intelligence Agency, regarding the restrictions imposed on Anton Zingarevich, the owner of Professional Football Club (PFC) Botev (Plovdiv). The update was published on the National Assembly's website on Friday, CE Report quotes BTA
The hearing has been added to the parliamentary schedule, replacing the previously planned Question Time. The request for the session came from MPs representing BSP – United Left, There Is Such a People (TISP), Vazrazhdane, and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB).
Zingarevich, a Russian businessman, was recently banned from entering Bulgaria for 10 years. PFC Botev (Plovdiv) confirmed the restriction in a December 2024 statement, adding that club officials had met with MPs from various political parties to discuss the issue and seek clarification.
During that meeting, MPs reportedly pledged to collaborate on resolving the situation affecting Zingarevich, who is the club's majority owner and benefactor.
