Eight Parties Likely to Enter Bulgaria’s Parliament, Survey Reveals
A recent Gallup International Balkan survey suggests that if elections were held next Sunday, eight parties would secure seats in Bulgaria’s National Assembly. The poll, conducted via telephone interviews with 800 adult Bulgarians from January 8 to 12, shows GERB leading with 22.2% of voter support, CE Report quotes BTA
The battle for second place is tight, with Vazrazhdane at 12.1%, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning at 12%, and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria at 11.6%. Other parties projected to cross the 4% threshold include BSP-United Left (7.4%), the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (5.8%), There Is Such a People (4.5%), and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) with 4.2%. Velichie, polling at 3.1%, falls short of entering Parliament.
Notably, nearly 12% of respondents remain undecided but intend to vote.
The survey also highlights President Rumen Radev as Bulgaria’s most trusted politician, with a 48.9% approval rating. National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova (19.8%) and caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev (12.5%) follow. Among party leaders, GERB’s Boyko Borissov leads with 21.7% trust, followed by Slavi Trifonov of There Is Such a People (14.6%) and Vazrazhdane’s Kostadin Kostadinov (13.6%).
The poll also explored opinions on Donald Trump’s upcoming administration, revealing mixed sentiments: 30.4% had positive or somewhat positive views, 24.4% expressed negative or somewhat negative opinions, while 25.6% anticipated no impact on Bulgaria or Europe.
The results underscore a dynamic political landscape as Bulgaria heads toward possible elections.
