GERB-UDF's Rosen Zhelyazkov Comments on Government Talks Amid Parliamentary Tensions

Bulgaria

Rosen Zhelyazkov, MP from GERB-UDF, addressed reporters Tuesday regarding ongoing government formation talks, stating, "We will continue in plenary because today we have a lot of work to do." Zhelyazkov, recently appointed to preside over the parliamentary legal committee, refrained from providing further details, CE Report quotes BTA

His remarks follow GERB-UDF's January 5 announcement to suspend coalition discussions with Democratic Bulgaria (DB), BSP-United Left, and There Is Such a People (TISP), citing disagreements with DB over leadership of a potential government. Democratic Bulgaria later said they learned of the suspension through media reports.

On Tuesday, DB representatives Bozhidar Bozhanov and Nadejda Iordanova, co-floor leaders of the Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria coalition, declined to comment on the situation.
