Historic Icons Exhibition to Open at Ruse Art Gallery

On January 8, the Ruse Art Gallery will unveil an exhibition of 38 icons dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, announced gallery director Eslitza Popova, CE Report quotes BTA

The collection includes three icons from the gallery's archives and 35 pieces from the Ruse Diocese, originating from the historic iconostasis of the St. George Church, built in 1841-1842. These works represent the craftsmanship of the renowned Tryavna School, Bulgaria’s oldest art school.

The exhibition is a collaborative effort between the St. George Church council, the Ruse Diocese, and the gallery.

The opening event will feature a performance by the Ruse Opera choir, led by conductor Stelyana Dimitrova-Hernani, with Plamen Beykov as soloist.
