Bulgarian Armed Forces Honor Fallen Soldiers in Iraq Operation

On Friday, the Bulgarian Armed Forces commemorated servicemen who lost their lives during the Stabilization and Reconstruction Operation in Iraq, the Defence Ministry reported, CE Report quotes BTA

The tribute marks 21 years since a truck bomb killed five Bulgarian soldiers at Camp India in Karbala. These soldiers were part of Bulgaria’s first military contingent in the Iraq mission.

Between 2003 and 2008, 13 Bulgarian service members fell in the line of duty, including Major Georgi Kachorin, Senior Lieutenant Nikolay Saraev, and Officer Candidates Anton Petrov, Marin Milev, and others. The ceremony, involving the Land Forces Command and Special Operations units, honored their sacrifice for global stability efforts.
