'Human Rights Days' to be held in Sarajevo

Bosnia and Herzegovina

The film program 'Human Rights Days', organized by the Sarajevo Film Festival and its festival partners, will be held at the Meeting Point Cinema in Sarajevo from December 9 to 11, CE Report quotes FENA.

The 'Human Rights Days' film program aims to spotlight pressing social and political issues through the lens of cinema, fostering dialogue and awareness around human rights challenges. This year’s program features a carefully curated selection of documentaries and feature films from around the globe, each addressing topics such as freedom of expression, migration, social justice, and gender equality.

The event will open on December 9 with a screening of an internationally acclaimed documentary that examines the global fight for environmental justice. Each screening will be followed by panel discussions and Q&A sessions with filmmakers, activists, and experts, creating a space for critical engagement and discussion.

Notable films in the lineup include "Silent Borders", a poignant exploration of refugee struggles at the European border, and "Unspoken Words", a moving narrative about survivors of human rights abuses finding their voice. Additionally, the program will feature a special focus on regional stories, with films highlighting human rights issues in the Balkans.

The Sarajevo Film Festival has a long-standing tradition of using cinema as a platform to discuss critical social issues, and this year’s 'Human Rights Days' continues that legacy. “The power of film lies in its ability to connect people to stories and experiences that are often marginalized or overlooked. This program is a call to action, reminding us of the universal importance of human rights,” said a festival representative.

In addition to film screenings, the event will host workshops for students and young professionals, focusing on storytelling for social change. These sessions aim to equip participants with tools to use media and art as a means of advocacy.

Admission to the screenings is free, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement. Tickets can be reserved online or at the Meeting Point Cinema box office.

The 'Human Rights Days' program promises to be a thought-provoking and inspiring event, uniting cinema lovers, activists, and policymakers to reflect on and promote the shared values of humanity.
