200 euros minimum income for all Albanians, promises Berisha
The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, assured that the DP will not only establish a minimum living income of 200 euros, but will also index it regularly every year, CE Report quotes ATA.
In a meeting in Unit 5 of the capital, Berisha also stated that "the list of reimbursed medicines will be like in Italy."
"We absolutely have the best program we have ever had in our history. The state budget, which is entirely the product of citizens' taxes, will allocate a significant portion for citizens, for salaries and pensions," he said.
Focusing on healthcare, Berisha added, "We will give a very strong response to this catastrophic situation."
"We will guarantee every Albanian citizen that, first, no medicine that is not sold in at least two EU countries will be allowed into Albania. Secondly, the list of medicines that the Italian welfare state reimburses its citizens for will be the same list that the Albanian state will reimburse its citizens for," he assured.
Berisha promised that every Albanian will receive 200 euros as a minimum living income.
"The minimum living income is both a moral and legal obligation, and this amount will be indexed every year, it will be improved every year. In this way, we become a fairer society, a society without people living in extreme poverty. Not only that, but there will be no low wages below 500 euros. We are a conservative party, we are a party of free initiative, but human compassion is our moral foundation. Therefore, no entrepreneur will be allowed to pay an employee less than 500 euros," he added.
Berisha assured entrepreneurs that no business will go bankrupt because of this, as there will be a drastic reduction in taxes.
"Every low-income worker, every pensioner, every person receiving economic assistance or unemployed and receiving less than 200 euros, will be given a consumer card. They will be able to buy food 20 percent cheaper, without VAT," he concluded.
