Albania makes solid progress toward EU integration
The European Council approved conclusions on EU enlargement covering the six Western Balkan countries. In the conclusions regarding Albania, the Council welcomes the opening of the "Fundamentals" cluster in the second intergovernmental conference on October 15, 2024, and the opening of the "External Relations" cluster, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, welcomed the opening of negotiations for the sixth cluster.
President Begaj wrote on X that today’s decision affirms Albania's solid progress toward EU membership in the near future.

The Council appreciates the government's objective to continue Albania's progress on its path to the EU, urges all political forces to follow their ambitious plan to close the accession negotiations, and expects to be able to open further negotiation clusters as soon as possible after meeting the conditions.
